On the Tracks of the Chachapoyas 4 days / 3nights

This program will take us to the picturesque village of Huancas, famous for the handicrafted elaboration of ceramics and to the spectacular Sonche River Canyon. Then, we’ll contemplate the impressive Cataract of Gocta; the fourth highest in the world, which is surrounded by exuberant nature. Afterwards, we’ll stay overnight in the picturesque village of El Tingo , to visit Ravesh’s Mausolea and Leymebamba’s Museum, ending with the Fortress of Kuélap; a majestic work of architecture erected by the Chachapoyas, on top of a high mountain. It is the mountainous jungle’s most imposing monumental complex, and it is surrounded by cliffs and precipices on three of its four sides. Inside its fortified walls, rising more than 20 meters in height, it shelters 505 living quarters, the majority of which have a circular layout. On the way, we will visit the Petroglyphs of La Pitaya , the Archaeological Complex of Macro and we’ll even go on a tour around the city of Chachapoyas .

CHACHAPOYAS PROGRAM

DAY 01           Arrival in Chachapoyas / City Tour / Village of Huancas

• Transfer from the bus station to the hotel
• Breakfast at the hotel
• 8:00 a.m.: Transfer to the picturesque village of Huancas , where we’ll observe the handicrafted elaboration of ceramic objects
• Tour to the impressive Sonche River Canyon
• Visit to the famous La Cusana Handicraft Workshop
• Return to Chachapoyas and city tour
• Transfer to the hotel.

Day 02           Petroglyphs of La Pitaya and Cataract of Gocta

• Breakfast at the hotel
• Transfer to the village of Cocachimba
• Guided visit to the Petroglyphs of La Pitaya
• Hike from Cocachimba, to the Cataract of Gocta
• Observation of flora and fauna, in the cloud forest
• Lunch on the way
• Return to the city of Chachapoyas and transfer to the hotel
• Dinner to your own account.

DAY 03           Archaeological Complex of Macro / Fortress of Kuélap / Overnight stay in Tingo

• Breakfast at the hotel
• 8:00 a.m.: Guided excursion to the Archaeological Complex of Macro
• Going by the picturesque villages of Nuevo Tingo, Choctamal and María
• Guided excursion to the Fortress of Kuélap
• Lunch in the area
• Transfer to the locality of El Tingo and accommodation at the Estancia El Chillo Hostel
• Dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 04                      Mausolea of Revash and Museum of Leymebamba

• Breakfast at the hotel
• Transfer to the Ingenio area
• Guided hike to the pre-Incan Funerary Site of Revash
• Lunch in the area
• Guided visit of the Mallqui Center Museum , in the locality of Leymebamba
• Return to the city of Chachapoyas and transfer to the hotel or bus station.
