Manu National Park – Cultural Zone (04 Days / 03 Nights)

The Manu National Park, Humanity’s Natural Patrimony, possesses a huge ecological wealth, with over 20,000 plant species, about 1,000 bird species, 1,200 species of butterflies and 200 of mammals, among which the jaguar stands out, along with the otter, 14 species of monkeys, like the leoncito, the smallest in the world, weighing 100 gr., and the maquisapa with its 9 kilos. In the Manu, there is the whole variety of ecological levels found in the Amazon, due to the altitudinal variation which goes from 200 m ., to almost 4,000 m .a.s.l. The Cultural Zone is a short option which costs less, to get to know the Manu.

PROGRAM

DAY 01           Cusco / Paucartambo / Cloud Forest / Pilcopata

• Very early, departure from your hotel, on a tourist transportation bound to Pilcopata and going by the locality of Paucartambo, Ninamarca’s “Chullpas”, the Aqanaku Mountain Pass ( 3,850 m .a.s.l.) and the cloud forest
• Lunch on the way
• Arrival in the village of Pilcopata and accommodation at a hotel
• Dinner on your own account.

DAY 02           Pilcopata / Atalaya / Lodge

• Breakfast at your hotel
• Transfer to Atalaya’s Pier and navigation on a small motorized boat, on the Alto Madre de Dios River , to the lodge, observing a diviersity of birds, such as herons, vultures, cormorants and others
• Reception and accommodation at the lodge
• Lunch
• In the afternoon, guided excursion in the thick Amazonian forest, observing species of flora and fauna
• Dinner
• Night walks, in search of wild fauna, insects, etc.

DAY 03           Lodge / Collpas / Qocha Machuhuasi / Hike in the Jungle

• Breakfast at the lodge
• Transfer on a small motorized boat and guided excursion to the parrots´ Collpa (Lick), where we’ll observe hundreds of parrots of 3 to 4 species, in a colorful and noisy show, while they ingest clay
• Guided excursion on rafts or catamarans, to the Qocha (Lagoon) Machuhuasi, where we will observe a diversity of monkeys, birds, dwarf caimans, reptiles and other animals
• Lunch in the area
• Walk in the jungle, to observe mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, medicinal plants, etc.
• Return to the lodge, for dinner and the overnight stay.

DAY 04           Lodge / Atalaya / Pilcopata / Paucartambo / Cusco

• Breakfast at the lodge
• Departure on a small motorized boat, to Atalaya’s Pier
• Tourist transportation back to the city of Cusco
• Lunch on the way
• Arrival in the city of Cusco and transfer to your hotel.
